In a drug seizure yesterday, police in Lop Buri searched 2 vehicles headed toward Bangkok and located greater than 8 million methamphetamine drugs in the autos. Officers arrested 4 individuals on charges of possession of illicit drugs with intent to sell.
Police say that they had received data on the drug trafficking operation after different investigations that led to a number of arrests in Bangkok. Officers say they learned that a group was planning to smuggle illegal medication from the Isaan area to central Thailand and that the drugs could be transported in a Honda Jazz automotive with Bangkok licence plates and a Toyota Revo pickup truck with Prachuap Khiri Khan licence plates.
A Metropolitan Police Bureau spokesperson says police had been on the lookout along Highway 21, a road the group typically used when smuggling drugs.
The vehicles matching the outline had been first spotting the Phetchabun province yesterday morning. Guaranteed tracked the automobiles to a PTT petrol station in Lop Buri. Officers then searched the vehicles and found 21 sacks with eight.41 million methamphetamine pills.
