Orders for dual-fuel LNG vessels broke all data in 2021 with a total of 240 ships globally. That is greater than the earlier 4 years combined. And growth seems set to continue unabated in 2022.
According to knowledge from classification society DNV, orders for 56 dual-fuel LNG vessels have been positioned in January and February.This change in demand has created fairly a buzz at Svanehøj. The Danish marine pump specialist quadrupled gross sales of its patented deepwell gasoline pumps in 2021, and there are many indications that gross sales could enhance even further in 2022.
Svanehøj has just secured an order for gas pump systems for 15 dual-fuel LNG container vessels (7,000 TEU), which are to be built at Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding. The complete of 30 deepwell fuel pumps will be delivered from August 2022 to January 2024. The order is among Svanehøj’s largest relating to LNG gas so far. It is the second time inside the final year that this buyer has chosen Svanehøj as the provider of LNG fuel pump techniques. In July 2021, they signed a contract for deepwell pumps for 10 dual-fuel LNG container vessels (15,000 TEU).
“Until a couple of years ago, the utilization of LNG as a marine gasoline was limited to LNG carriers and smaller ships. Large investment in lean manufacturing and new gear
To assist the green transition of the maritime trade, Svanehøj is currently investing greater than DKK 10 million in upgrading its manufacturing amenities in Denmark. A new manufacturing facility layout with manufacturing cells and robotics will assist Svanehøj’s ambitious progress strategy and reduce lead instances for all products.
“We have made a strategic decision to implement lean manufacturing. By rethinking our processes, we count on to extend productivity and capacity by up to 50%,” says Mikkel Bülow Bundgaard Sørensen, Lean Specialist, Svanehøj.
Svanehøj has entered 2022 with a new strategy and a goal of doubling its turnover to DKK 1 billion ($152 million) by the end of 2026. In addition to gas pumps for LNG, LPG, and carbon-neutral fuels, Svanehøj sees nice potential in growing pump options for the infrastructure to be constructed round Power-to-X and carbon capture and storage (CCS).
